The MASALA-2G Second Generation Program

MASALA-2G is an exciting heart health program and research study for the adult children (“2nd Generation”) of participants from the original MASALA Study! The goal of the MASALA-2G program is to understand heart health in second generation South Asian American adults.

  • Who can participate in the MASALA-2G program?
    -
    Adult children of original MASALA study participants
    - Age 18+ years
    - Born inside or outside the United States

  • Where does the MASALA-2G program take place?
    The in-person MASALA-2G program visit occurs at the Northwestern campus in downtown Chicago, IL.
    Participants should live in the Chicago area, OR we can arrange for you to participate when you are visiting Chicago in the future!

  • What does the MASALA-2G program involve?
    - Confidential online health questionnaires
    - One visit to the MASALA clinic, for blood tests, vital signs checks, and a heart CT scan
    - Results of tests are provided to you at no cost
    - Your participation will help support the health of the South Asian American community!
